The Accountant – General Ledger & Financial Reporting is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely accounting records, reconciliations, and financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, company policies, and internal controls. The role oversees General Ledger reviews, revenue and expense reconciliations, audit readiness, and month-end and year-end closing activities, while strengthening accounting processes and controls to minimize errors, resolve discrepancies, and maintain financial accuracy, integrity, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the accurate and timely recording of all accounting transactions in compliance with applicable accounting standards, statutory requirements, company policies, and internal controls
- Lead the review and reconciliation of General Ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, proper documentation, and timely resolution of discrepancies and outstanding balances
- Ensure revenue, taxes, service charges, and expenses are accurately reconciled with PMS, POS, Inventory, invoice listings, and other relevant financial records
- Maintain comprehensive accounting schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness and facilitate timely completion of internal and external audits
- Strengthen accounting processes and controls by identifying and addressing system or process gaps that may result in errors, omissions, duplicate entries, or unauthorized transactions
- Lead and support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring all required accounting entries, reconciliations, and reporting requirements are completed accurately and within established timelines
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance with a professional qualification (CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, or CIMA)
- 7-10 years of experience in finance and accounting, including 2-3 years of experience in an audit firm at supervisory level
- Strong knowledge of hospitality financial operations, including rooms division, F&B revenue, banquets, cost control, and financial reporting (budgeting, forecasting, audits)
- Hands-on experience with hotel ERP/PMS systems such as Opera, Sun Systems, SAP, or similar platforms
